Starting School Again

I've been meaning to post this earlier, but it's taking more time for me to get things done. Sienna started first grade this week. She was so excited to go and she even spent about an hour the day before trying on clothes to decide her first outfit. I can no longer pick her clothes because she definately has her own likes. Right now she wants things with sparkles and glitter.

Mom was most anxious about getting to school on time. Sienna has a hard time winding down at night. After she is tucked in bed, she can sing, read or play in her bed for a couple of hours before going to sleep. This last month we have been working on telling our bodies to go to sleep. It was not a big deal before because she could sleep in since school did not start until 11:30 a.m. However, now we have to be there at 8:00 a.m. Most days she would not even wake up until that time. We had to make some changes so we could be on time.

As we were loading the car at 7:40, Breven started telling me something in his frantic voice. It took me a minute to figure out that he needed his "school stuff." He could not drop Sienna off at school without taking his lunchbox too. Everyday this week, when I made Sienna's lunch I also made a lunch for Breven and put it in his lunchbox. He takes his lunchbox to school and he carries it to drop Sienna off and back to the car.

It has been a transition from kindergarten to first grade. A full school day has been harder for all of us. The first day, Breven kept asking, "Ya, Ya yet?" He missed her and wanted to go pick her up all morning.

Well, we have had a good three days and look forward to more. Hopefully, we can keep up our schedule and get the important things done.

I'm the Only Cherlynn Imes

A friend sent this to me to check out how common my name is. I had a good time searching the names in my family. Can you believe that Sumpter is more common than Imes? I guess they are both different. I love that we are the only name that starts with "I" in the ward directory (there are a few more in the stake). Check out the site.

Appreciate the Little Things

A few months ago our clothes dryer broke, and instead of replacing it right away, we decided to use a clothesline to save on cost and energy. For the most part it was fine except for two little things

First the towels. Towels need to be dried in a dryer. The softness and fluff that a dryer adds is luxury!! We joked that the crisp towels we used were helping us exfoliate our bodies as we dried off after each shower.

The other problem was time. I would have to schedule which load to do which day because I could only fit one load on the drying rack. Which made laundry more of an on-going chore than it already was, and the ironing basket was always full because I was waiting to finish washing ALL the loads. By the time I washed all the clothes, we had more dirty clothes in the hamper. AAUUUGGGG!!

Before Caden was born, we decided that we needed to purchase a dryer. I could not put stiff clothes on a baby--they needed to be soft. However, it was good to live without a dryer because it sure made me appreciate the little things that I take for granted. This week I kept rubbing Breven's back because his T-shirt was so SOOFFFTTT.

This is not the dryer we bought, but it is my dream to one day own a GE Profile. I have liked this one ever since I saw the red models. However, now I'm leaning more towards the navy. Who knows what it will be when we get to make this dream purchase. For now, I'm so pleased and grateful to have a dryer.
