INTRODUCING. . .Caden Spencer Imes

Born: Wednesday, July 16th at 6:38 p.m.
8 pounds 5 ounces, 21.5 inches long.

We are so glad that our little guy is here. He is such a cutie, but he has his days and nights mixed up. He can sleep all day (so soundly that it is difficult to wake him up), and then be wide awake and often fussy at night.

Sienna and Breven are great helpers. They like holding their brother and helping out with changing his diaper and getting things for Mom. They give him lots of kisses and listen for his cries.

We had a hard time choosing a name. We wanted something that went together with Sienna and Breven. We just couldn't name him Mike. So we spent time reading name books. In one book we learned that Caden is a familiar form of Carl which is Smokey's name. It was appealing to name our son after his father without using his name and having a junior.

However, for several months, Sienna has wanted to call the baby, Steve. She thinks that all July birthdays in our family need to start with S because both Sienna and Smokey's birthdays are in July and their names start with an S. When we asked if it would be confusing to use Steve because that is Mom's brother's name, she responded, "No, Mom, it would not be confusing because we don't see Steve very much." Unfortunately, that is true because Steve and his family live in Michigan.

Anyway, after much discussion and brainstorming we agreed on Caden Spencer Imes.
